The Tanzania Network Information Centre (tzNIC) is a not for profit company incorporated in 2006 to manage and administer the .tz country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD). tzN1C is a catalyst and leading player ill provision of reliable, affordable and secure electronic communications by Promoting the utilization of .t: domain names, Enhancing its technical capacity in managing the .tz registry, Protecting registrants' interests, Harmonizing the .tz ccTLD management policies at National. Regional and International levels and Facilitating the provision of local content online while benefiting from the Tanzania's unique cyber identity. tzNIC is ranked as the second (2nd) best registry in Africa in terms of provisioning of reliable and secure registry services
The Centre would like to recruit dynamic and qualified personnel to fill vacant position of:
Reports: To the Technical Officer
1.1 Responsibilities
The Systems Engineer will be expected to handle the following tasks:
System development and/or programming.
Assist the Technical Officer in technical management of the day to day running of the Centre;
Assist the Technical Officer in preparing technical reports and papers 011 the organizations activities for presentation to the Policy Advisory Committee (PAC) of tzNIC.
Assist the Technical Officer to administer the dot tz and its sub-domains and effectively provide Domain Registry Services to Registrars and Registrants,
Any other duties that may be assigned by the Technical Officer.
1.2 Qualifications
Bachelor'S degree in Information Communication Technology! Computer science or equivalent qualifications
Knowledge in Internet routing protocols, Networking, Unix Operating systems, Domain Name Systems (DNS) and Databases.
Proficiency in either of following languages: Python, C. C-+-t-, Perl, HTML, MySQL. Php, CSS, Javascript and XML.
At least two (2) years working experience in the information Communication Technology (Internet, IT and/or Telecommunications) industry.
Knowledge of Cisco IOS and Junos technologies will be an added advantage.
1.3 Knowledge, skills and abilities Ability to work flexible hours.
Good interpersonal communication skills.
Proactive and self starting with ability to work unsupervised or with minimum supervision. Achievement and result oriented team player.
1.4 Remuneration
