USM Alger earned their ticket to the final of the CAF Confederation Cup after a triumphant 2-0 victory over ASEC Mimosas in May 2023. The first leg between the two sides finished without any goals at Bouaké, but USMA was relentless and decisive in their own match. Their emphatic performance secured their spot in the final of the continental competition. Taking advantage of a free kick caught by the Ivory Coast defenders, Khaled Bousseliou scored a goal before 30 minutes, giving USM Alger a 1-0 lead.
